#4 - Island of Kaua'i

Spike's home island and some surf spots

This is the island where my uncle Spike and Donna live. I hope to go back some day and catch some more great surf. He lives in Lihue and use to live just 2 minutes from the southeast shore of Kaua'i. Kaua'i seems the most laid back of all the islands and all of Hawaii is laid back.

We stayed at the Aloha Radisson Kaua'i Beach Resort in Lihue. It has a fitness center, pools with man-made waterfalls and caverns, a kiddie pool with a sand shore like the beach, and a nice lobby area. The beach was nice and secluded, but few activities, or a night life. You'll need a rental car to have fun if you are an active person.

Surf wasn't good there (southeast shore), but head north for the 2 or 3 great surf spots (east shore, north shore), or go west towards the Kaua'i Grand Canyon (southwest shore).
